Updated Sofabaton U1 Universal Remote

The Updated Sofabuton U1 is indeed three-year labour of love for the Sofabaton company. When I first laid my hands on this remote, the design language screamed that it was a remote made for the year 2021 as there has been a lot of work put into it by the company.

This Remote has almost replaced every remote in my media centre as most of my devices are supported by the Sofabuton U1.

The Unboxing experience of the Sofabuton U1 reminds you of the unboxing experience of a premium Apple device. The white box has all the features of the Sofabuton U1 listed on it.

Once you open it, you will find a quick start guide where some initial instructions are detailed. Underneath, you see the remote, which I must say has an exceptionally ergonomic design and feels great in my grip. Underneath the remote, you have the included batteries.

Many companies give you some light indicator to distinguish between the devices you are controlling with the Remote. The Sofabuton U1 goes the extra mile and gives you a monochrome OLED display along with a slider wheel so that your experience is intuitive and hassle-free. Just slide the wheel, and the OLED display will show you which device you are currently controlling.

The Sofabuton U1 works on a vast range of devices, and once you get it, you will no longer need another remote for your media centre ever again.

According to the Sofabuton themselves, Their Updated U1 remote works on more than five hundred thousand devices which I wish I could have tested them all.

However, with the devices I have, it worked flawlessly. A total of 15 devices could be controlled by the remote at one time which is more than enough for an average household.

Another thing I appreciated about the Sofabuton U1 is its connectivity with IR and Bluetooth. Most Universal remotes will give Infrared connectivity, and that’s fine. However, the addition of Bluetooth technology makes the Sofabuton U1 cover many more devices than other Universal remotes could.

Most Universal remotes available in the market will have a lot of documentation with them where they will have listed the code for the devices their product supports. This can sometimes get confusing, so going an extra mile once more,

the Sofabuton U1 gives you a mobile app where you can set up and pair the remote with your devices hassle-free by just looking up your device. I found that the app was well optimized and worked flawlessly during my use.

The Sofabuton U1 also gives you the ability to set up macro buttons. This allows you to map and remap all the buttons to whatever command you like.

So if you want, you can map the volume button to volume down. A button can also be mapped to perform three or more commands at the same time.

There are also many quality of life features in the Sofabuton U1. When you pick up the Sofabuton U1, it wakes up automatically due to motion activation.

The screen turns on, and you are set to use the Remote. Once you are done, the remote will automatically sense it and turn itself off. This feature allows you to get more life out of your batteries.

Speaking of batteries, the Sofabuton U1 needs two AA batteries which are included inside the box. I have been using the Sofabuton U1 for more than a month now, and I still have not run out of battery.

You also do not need to be concerned about the screen, which may look like a battery drain; however, OLEDs were created keeping battery life in mind, so you do not need to worry about it.

Other features like the Autostart and auto-off make the Sofabuton U1 one of the most battery-efficient remotes I have used to date.

  • OLED Screen showing controlled devices
  • Slider for easy control
  • Controls 15 Devices at the same time
  • Batteries are included
  • App support for easy pairing
  • Infrared and Bluetooth supported

  • The remote is expensive
  • It does not support FireTV

One For all URC 7140

One-for-All-URC-Universal-Remote-Control-For-Polaroid-TVThe One for all URC 7140 was created to keep basic functionality in mind and have many bells and whistles like other TV remotes. Unlike the Sofabuton U1, which is the king of Universal Remote controls,

the One for All URC 7140 will only do what it is designed for and do well. It is not highly customizable; however, it works excellent with Polaroid televisions.

The Unboxing experience of the One for All URC 7140 is very straightforward. The remote is enclosed in a plastic One for All branded enclosure. The enclosure features all the features of this Remote.

Once you pop open the enclosure, you will find some paperwork with some initial instructions on setting up the remote and the codes for the supported devices. There are no batteries included in the enclosure.

The One for All URC 7140 promises and guarantees that it will work with all devices, and during my testing, it worked very well with most of my devices. The remote is relatively easy to set up and requires you to put in the code of your device.

The One for all URC lets you control all sorts of Infrared devices like Televisions, Projectors, AV receivers, set-top boxes, and so many more. However, where it lacks is that it will only allow you to control four devices simultaneously.

The learning feature of the URC 7140 will let it copy any feature from the plethora of remotes you may have and use it on it.

The design of the One for all URC 7140 is very ergonomic. It is a little on the taller side; however, the keys are easy to reach. The keys also give you a premium feel and do not feel cheap at all.

The range of the remote is also great, and the IR blasters are located in such a way that it has ultra-wide-angle support. This means you do not need to point directly at the TV for the remote to work.

The One for all URC 7140 needs 4 AAA batteries to run, which I think is a lot. The batteries not being included are also a con for this remote; however, the battery life on these remotes is excellent, and during my many months of use, it did not require a battery change. I believe a conservative estimate for the battery on this device would be around six months if used continuously.

  • Guarantees support for all-Infrared devices
  • Supports 4 Devices at the same time
  • Easy pairing using code
  • Ergonomic design
  • Ultrawide angle support

  • Batteries not included
  • Not backlit
  • 4 AAA Batteries required

GE Universal Remote Control

You may know GE from their other products where they have provided excellent service to their customers; however, you might not have known that they create excellent remote controls as well.

GE offers various Universal Remote Controls at multiple prices that differ in the number of devices they support. The cheapest supports only four devices, while the more expensive ones support six to eight devices. I got myself the six device model, which also is backlit, unlike the cheapest model.

The GE Universal Remote control does not come in a box; instead, it is enclosed in a plastic enclosure. The enclosure has the features of the remote listed on it.

In my case, it said. Six devices supported simultaneously, along with guaranteeing that it will work on all of my devices. Once you pop open the enclosure, you will find some paperwork with the initial start-up guide and a code library to let you set up your device.

My first Impressions of the GE Universal Remote Control were that it has an excellent grip on it. The design is ergonomically friendly and looks aesthetically pleasing.

Other remote control brands do not let you choose the remote you want to get, where GE offers five different colour options like Gold, graphite, Rose, black, and silver. I got myself the simple black colour as the other colours look out of place for me.

The setup process was straightforward. All I had to do was enter my TV and AV device code, and I was done. The backlighting feature of this device was also convenient, especially when I am watching a movie and I have turned off all the lights. All six advertised devices worked, and I could seamlessly control them with the GE Universal Remote control.

The GE Universal remote is a remote done right, and for the price, it is an absolute bargain. During my use, I have not found a single issue with it.

The Infrared connectivity of this remote never let me down, and I did not have to jump up and down to register the keys I clicked.

The keys also gave me a premium tactile feel, and they do not feel cheap as so many other remote controls on the market.

The Master Volume control is also a convenient feature in the GE Universal Remote. This feature allows you to control the volume no matter which device you are currently controlling. This feature can be handy when you need to bring your volume down at times to hear something.

I am now coming to the batteries, the GE Universal remote needs two AAA batteries which are not included in the box. The Battery life on this remote is excellent; it has been three months, and it is still running on the first pair of batteries I put in it.

The Backlighting can be a battery drain for the remote, so I think I might get a month more out of the first pair of batteries.

All in all, the GE Universal Remote Control is an excellent remote control and is a must buy if you are looking for a great remote control under 10 dollars. It has never let me down, and I am sure that it will not let you down either.

  • Backlit keys
  • Different colour options available
  • Different variants available for more devices
  • Compatible with all IR devices
  • Easy to use

  • Batteries not included
  • Keys can feel cluttered at times

TeKswamp TV Remote Control for Polaroid FLM-3232

The TeKswamp TV Remote Control for Polaroid FLM-3232 is our pick for being the bang for buck option if you look for a “straight to the point” television remote for your Polaroid TV.

The remote is programmed to work with the Polaroid FLM-3232, and it is going to work great. I own the Polaroid FLM-3232, and this remote is One you should get if you own one.

The unboxing experience of the TeKswamp TV Remote Control was pretty straightforward. The remote came in a small box with the TeKswamp branding on it. Opening the package, you are going to find the Television remote and some paperwork with initial instructions.

There was no setup process involved with this Remote. All I had to do was point the remote at my Polaroid FLM-3232, and it started working. With no process involved with the remote setup, I sat down and started using the Remote.

The advertised range of the remote is 7 meters, and during my use, I found that I could squeeze a few more inches out of it, and it would still work.

The design of the TeKswamp remote is painfully mediocre and does remind you of many cheap remotes. The buttons also do not give a good feel when pressed, and sometimes the power button would stick.

The TeKswamp remote control uses two AAA batteries which are not included. The battery life is where this remote shines. The absence of the bells and whistles like backlit and OLED screens allow it to consume a lot less power than its competitors.

So, if you are looking for a single device remote for your Polaroid FLM-3232 that “just works”, then you cannot go wrong with the TeKswamp Remote control.

  • Works right out of the box
  • It consumes very little power
  • Good range
  • Easy to use
  • Guarantees some functionality for Polaroid TV

  • Button can stick
  • No multi-device support
  • Cheap feeling design

RCA RCR313BE Big Button Universal Remote Control

The RCA Big Button Universal Remote Control was designed keeping accessibility in mind. This remote is ideal for senior citizens as the buttons of this remote are very easy to see and click.

I bought this remote for my grandparents to use for their Polaroid Television. They have been using it for many months now, and I have not heard a single complaint about it.

The Unboxing experience of the RCA Big buttons is just as straightforward as most of the remotes on our list. Being enclosed in a transparent plastic enclosure, the first thing you can see is the RCA branding and some of the highlighted features of the Remote.

Prying open the transparent enclosure, we find some paperwork where you can find the codes to set up the remote with your TV. Then we see the small, which can be taken right out. There are no batteries included with the Remote.

The RCA big button can support a plethora of devices like TV’s, streaming boxes, DVDs, VCR, and so many more. The remote supports all the major brands like Sony, Samsung, TCL etc. The setup process is straightforward. All you have to do is enter the device’s code, and you are good to go.

The remote design is ergonomically friendly, and its rounded edges make it very easy to hold. The buttons are prominent and give a tactile feel. The buttons do not stick when they are pressed. All in all, the remote is designed very well.

RCA sells different variants of the big buttons depending on the number of devices. The remote can support three, four or eight devices depending on the variant.

The design language shifts significantly as you move up the variants; however, I got the smaller three device remote which was more than enough for my grandparents.

Coming to the batteries, the RCA Big buttons remote control requires 2 AA batteries which are not included with the packaging. The battery life on this remote is also great as it can easily be used for many months on end and not require a battery change.

  • Designed keeping accessibility in mind
  • Visible big buttons for nearsighted people
  • Supports a wide range of devices
  • Great Ergonomic design
  • Partially Backlit

  • Batteries not included
  • It supports only three devices at the same time

Well, this was it for the Best Universal Remotes for Polaroid TV. Summing up my thoughts about these remotes, I can recommend any of these remotes for you, and you are going to be comfortable using them on your Polaroid TV.

However, if I have to choose a clear winner, then I would say the Updated Sofabaton U1 is the most feature-rich Remote on this list. It is the easiest to set up and the most modern remote control you can find on the market. From the unboxing experience to my month of use, I have never used a more hassle-free remote in my life.

The GE Universal Remote, on the other hand, is a close second in my books. It lacks the features and mobile app support of the Sofabuton U1; however, the GE is a “no compromise” remote that will keep you happy for years to come. The One for all URC 7140 ties with GE for the second place due to its functionality is driven design philosophy.

The RCA Big Buttons remote is One you can get if you have loved ones that are a little older and need something easy to use and will not confuse them.
